Why ARC and Beta Readers Matter
What’s the difference between an ARC and a Beta reader? Short version: Beta readers get in early and help shape the story. ARC readers come in just before launch to build buzz and share honest reviews. Both are crucial.
The Seeker’s Wrath is in its final ARC phase at the end of June 2025. At the time of publishing there is only a few days left to grab your copy before launch. If you already have it and enjoyed it, you’ll want to continue with An Envious God, the next book in The Essence Wars, coming the last day of November.
Even better, The Anvil and the Throne is nearly complete. It won’t be out until mid-2026, but if you’re on the Beta team, you’ll read it before anyone else. Earlier than ARC readers. Earlier than the mailing list. First eyes on the page.
What do I expect?
Beta readers give feedback. Where did it drag? What hit hard? What didn’t land? You don’t need to be an editor. Just honest. ARC readers help with visibility. If you liked the book, reviews on Amazon and Goodreads go a long way, though anywhere you post helps.
ARC readers are also first in line for the next book. If you’re reading now, you’ll get priority when An Envious God and The Anvil and the Throne go out.
Or you can join one of the many ARC groups on Facebook and get a continuous stream of free reading whenever you want. I help admin one group here: ARC Readers / Authors / Reviews / Readers.
Writers helping writers? Absolutely. Beta reading can be a team effort. I’m happy to swap with other indie authors—get in touch if that’s you.
